Hello everyone and Happy July!
Welcome to another month of lovely challenges from More Than Words. This
month we are celebrating the wonders of watercolour with our new Design Team
of 12 in place! We also are excited to launch the first issue of our new magazine - Artful Pages - more details below!
But first, let's look at this month's art journal challenge!
Our challenge has two parts, please use both prompts to inspire
you:
Word Inspiration: WONDERFUL
Creative Challenge: USE WATERCOLOUR
As previously mentioned in the Art Café Facebook Group, we have suspended all sponsored prizes until
further notice due to the current world situation.
Helpful Tips For The Challenge
We would like you to be inspired by both parts of our challenge
- our word inspiration WONDERFUL and our creative
challenge - USE WATERCOLOUR.
We can't wait to see what you do and if you need more help, you might find our new magazine useful!
As mentioned at the top of the post, we are excited to announce our new magazine - Artful Pages - which is a new way of looking at our challenges and inspiration, as well as being able to add more value for our readers which we are not able to do in our current formats. So here's a look at our very first issue which is available to flick through online just like a real magazine. The magazine contains more about our challenges this month, more info about our new Design Team - plus DT inspiration, Guest Designer interviews, and more! Check it out and see for yourself - we would love your feedback!
Let's see what our lovely new Design Team have created this month...
ANN CHUANG
Ann says: The word Wonderful reminds me of the leisurely life in the countryside,
it is a wonderful thing to be able to live in nature. I stamped the image
and heat embossing it. Then I created a WATERCOLOUR background using Prima
Watercolor Confections. Added some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Layers and paper
dolls as a finishing touch.

ELLE - EOTC
Elle says: "The Key to a WONDERFUL life is to never stop wandering into wonder -
always pursue new ventures in your life and be willing to open doors
to different light. This is the only way to keep it magical and always
filled with wonder." I am trying to take these words to heart at the
moment but sometimes it's not so easy and the mundane, boring things
get in the way of the wonder. As for the WATERCOLOUR element, my whole
page is watercoloured. I used watercolour pencils and a brush to shade
her face and then what to do with the rest of the page? Well, I filled
it with her hair and used some of my favourite colours - how wonderful
it would be to have hair like this!

HEATHER MCMAHON
Heather says: I was inspired by the word WONDERFUL to create a positive page
about seeking out the wonderful things in life. I created a
WATERCOLOUR background and added gorgeous butterflies, anemones
and a transparency window, all from ArtStacks. I hope you can join in our challenge this month!

HELEN HOLLINGER
Helen says: Wonderful for me represents all things in life that make you happy!
And having too much of them, can be a good thing! I used a mixture of
yellow, orange, and red watercolors for the background, with some
watercolor painted squares that I stenciled with modeling paste. A
splattering of watercolor, an image and quote finished off my first
design team project!

KAT PALECZNY
Kat says: I love summer and this quote "Wonderful day" is perfect to wish you a happy holiday. I used watercolours and stamps to make the flowers in my art journal.

LISA OXLEY
Lisa says: To me, its the everyday things that make life WONDERFUL, like
finding those perfect boots to wear. While WATERCOLOURS ain't really my bag, layering together Art by
Marlene pan watercolours and Inktense pencils allowed me to
achieve this vibrantly rich background with ease.

MATILDE FAB
Matilde says: For me a word WONDERFUL is related to happy life filled with
love. I created a WATERCOLOUR background using shimmering
powders and adding some beautiful stamps. The violet flowers is
painted with watercolours also.

RACHEL MARTIN
Rachel says: When I think of "WONDERFUL", I think of an imaginary world
where everything is a bit magical and the imperfect is just
perfect. I found this Art Foamies stamp ideal to represent my
idea! I played with WATERCOLOR, embossing powder and a water
spray to create my background.

ROX BOYCE
Rox says: I have always liked this quote by Maya Angelou “This is a
wonderful day, I’ve never seen this one before.” This was the
inspiration for me to use my watercolours and stamps today and
create an art journal layout.

SARAH DORGERE
Sarah says: What a WONDERFUL World. that's what I say every day. I wanted to represent that by tracing this girl and her thoughts with these bubbles full of colors. the beauty of this world with nature and above all the love that resembles us with these hearts. I used the WATERCOLORS technique with my favorite lindy’s gang products.

SHARON FRITCHMAN
Sharon says: I am LOVING Lisa Oxley's beautiful pink canvas paper from ArtStacks! I
used it as my art journal page background and added a WATERCOLORED sun,
clouds, a tree, and a mom holding her baby. My sentiment is one of my
favorites from the song "What a WONDERFUL World" that was sung by Louis
Armstrong.

SUNILA MAHAJAN
Sunila says: 'Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters',
this quote inspired me to create this page. I was inspired by the
idea of time and the time it takes for a butterfly to become one.
The whole process is so wonderful, isn't it? I've used watercolour
technique on my page, to colour the page and the elements with my
favourite Lindy's.
