Celebrating 150 Challenges With Special Guest Designer DANA TATAR

This month, we are very pleased to feature some special guests who are all former More Than Words Team members!  First to feature is our wonderful friend, Dana Tatar from They Call Me Tatar Salad.

We invite you to get to know Dana a little better through her interview below.  Please also visit her social links which are listed in her Artist Bio.

Artist Bio

Hi friends! I'm so excited to be the Guest Designer this month! I currently live in the USA with my husband and two teenage children. I started paper crafting about 15 years ago and have an eclectic style in terms of what and how I design. I love to mix and match products to keep things interesting. I'm a tactile crafter and I enjoy playing with texture and layers. I also like to add a touch of whimsy to my projects. I frequently find inspiration in music, poetry, and pop culture. When I'm not creating art, I enjoy baking, reading, listening to music, and spending time outside with my family and basset hound Peach.

Q & A with Dana

How long have you been creating art?
I've always been crafty, but I hadn't made any serious commitments to creating art until after the birth of my first child nearly 16 years ago.

What is your favourite type of art supply or product?
I'm a major collector of patterned papers from all over the world.

What's your favourite colour palette to use?
I use a lot of teal and orange in my art. I do have the general opinion that more color is better!

Our very first challenge was in January 2016 - how has your art changed since then and how have you grown as an artist?
I started my adult adventures in art with scrapbooking to document major milestones in my children's lives. Now, art has become a hobby that I also use to express myself.   I have greatly expanded my art supply from patterned paper and cardstock to a little bit of everything including stamps, stencils, tools, and mediums.

What's your favourite thing about More Than Words Challenge?
I love a good challenge! I tend to get stuck in certain creative lanes and designing for a specific challenge makes the creative process fresh and exciting. Challenges are a fun way to try something different that I may not have created otherwise.

Dana's Interpretation of our June Mini Challenge

Like so many of my projects, this artist trading card started with inspiration from a song, DAYDREAM by The Lovin' Spoonful. I created a colorful background for my card using collage paper that I doodled on. I managed to include the bonus challenge and stamped the number 150 along the bottom edge of the card.

Thanks for sharing your amazing, colourful ATC with us Dana and we love how you incorporated the bonus challenge!  We hope that Dana's take on the Mini Challenge inspires you to enter this month.

Here's a reminder of our current Mini Challenge which you can enter in our Facebook group:
