October Main Challenge - WRITE and Use MAGAZINES

Hello everyone and welcome back to our regularly scheduled Main Challenge!

This month, we have made some changes and we want you to use our challenge board to create an ART JOURNAL PAGE!

Our challenge has two parts, please use both prompts to inspire you:

Word Inspiration:  WRITE
Creative Challenge:  use MAGAZINES

Helpful Tips For The Challenge

This is an art journaling challenge so you could use the word WRITE on your page or you could just WRITE something on your page using your own writing! Use any old magazines that you have already, they don't have to be new or expensive or bought specially. Rip them up or fussy cut them and add them to your page. Use the text or the images in part or in full, it's up to you! Check out our Design Team Inspiration below...

YULIA POPKOVA

Yulia:  For our challenge, I took the magazine of my favorite brand and when I saw a photo of flowers, I immediately decided to use this palette and floral mood in my project. The phrase in the artbook is a quote from a French writer Sidonie Gabrielle Colette.

SHARON FRITCHMAN

Sharon:  I love the C.S. Lewis quote "You can make anything by WRITING" and used it here. In addition, I found some old Mary Engelbreit "Home Companion" MAGAZINES (from 2000) and fussy cut the paper doll, desk, and easel to complete my page.

LISA OXLEY

Lisa: "Write your truth"Using magazines in journal play is always a super fun way for me to capitalise and create with bold focal points. Fashion magazines are fabulous for image transfer techniques, because of there high ink content or just straight cut and paste like this piece. Including hand written elements is an essential detail on my pages. Usually a final detail where I instil my unique mark upon my page.

KAT PALECZNY

Kat:  The courage to WRITE.
I think today we must have courage to write true. Always found someone understand you.
I used old magazines, I glued it onto a background and covered with white gesso. Then I used a stencil with a modeling paste and I painted the background using color mists. I also glued some paper leaves, chipboards and did some splashing.

HEATHER MCMAHON

Heather: I used the WRITE theme as inspiration for my title. This tissue title from ArtStacks was perfect! I also wrote some journaling at the bottom of the page.
I made an image transfer from a MAGAZINE, then cut words from the same magazine to describe my girl's story plus I used some paper from the same magazine as backing for my page.
I can't wait to see what you create!

AGA MIRKOWSKA

Aga:  Everyone has their own story WRITTEN behind their eyes. If you look into eyes deeply, you may read this story. I used a female portrait from one of my old MAGAZINES. I glued it onto a page and covered with gesso clear. Then I used a stencil with a modeling paste and I painted the background using color glows. I also glued some paper butterflies, sequins and did some doodling and splashing.

ELLE - EOTC

Elle:  I found my magazine images - the woman and the face value words - that I wanted to use and then made my background with paper towel and acrylic ink.  I wrote the rest of the quote in my own writing around the magazine words.

SARAH DORGERE

Sarah:  I am so happy to continue this great adventure in a new format. To make this Art Journal page I used a page from a very old MAGAZINE then applied white gesso. I draw a pen that is WRITING. Taking her first steps is also writing a new page like a girl learning to do her dance steps.

This year we have changed to a Regional Prize structure, whereby there will be multiple Main Challenge Winners, one or more for each Region.  The number of Winners/Prizes for each Region is dependent on the number of Sponsors for that Region.  Some of our Sponsors remain as International Sponsors but many are now Region specific. It is now more important than ever that you add your NAME and COUNTRY to your Inlinkz entries!

Our Fabulous Sponsors this quarter include:
