Welcome back to another Main Challenge at More Than Words!
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
Word Inspiration - CHILDHOOD
Creative Challenge - ADD GOLD
HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE
At this time of year we often associate CHILDHOOD with Christmas as it can be such a special time. If so, we’d love to see what you’re inspired to create! But maybe you’d prefer to create about your own childhood or a special memory you have. Or do you have a photo of a child you’d like to record? We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
It seems the right time of year for some sparkle and shine, so we’d like to see you ADD GOLD to your project!
Once again our challenge inspired me to create in my Art Journal. Childhood and December go together very well - it is my favourite month I was born on December 23rd so I'm waiting for that day the whole year! I always feel so special in December when the whole world dresses up in beautiful lights, glitter and sine. One of my favourite childhood memories is scrapping off glitter from christmas tree baubles and putting it on my face! going back to memories like this always make me smile

Childhood is often an important moment in a person’s life. The memories are rich and precious. I have a lot of pictures from my childhood, and I like to look at them occasionally. It reminds me of happy moments. I try to do the same for my sons.I take many pictures of them to make memories of their young age. They will appreciate when they’ll be adults. For the creative twist I used Stickles glitter gel with an AB Studio stencil for the golden touch on my page background.

A few things came together to make this art journal page. I was doing some sketching practice and she started to look like a fairy but she was very cool and blue so she would be a winter fairy! So I started to think about fairies and childhood beliefs - do you still believe in fairies? I used to think they lived at the bottom of the garden and wondered where they went in the winter. Perhaps they spend the winter in this cool blue place deep in the winter forest? My childhood belief in fairies never left me Handmade stencil, sprays, watercolour pencils, polychromos, metallic watercolour, neocolour II, unicorn paste, paint pens and blue hydrangea flowers from my garden. I added gold splatters to the page, gold in her hair and crown and highlights on my lettering.

My December layout CHILDHOOD and GOLD. I have used a beautiful photo of my granddaughter which shows happiness, joy and all of the expressions of childhood. I have used gold in the background, texture and metal embellishments.

For the Word Challenge CHILDHOOD, I used the quote "there is no land like the land of your childhood " and used the picture of a child. For the Creative Inspiration GOLD, I used gold color splatter and a gold fabric. My flowers have gold centers as well.
