Welcome back to another Main Challenge at More Than Words!
Saying GOODBYE - sadness or new beginnings?
Share your perspective with us this month!!
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
Word Inspiration - GOODBYE
Creative Challenge - MONOCHROMATIC
HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE
MONOCHROMATIC colours can be very symbolic and can portray strong emotions. Whatever you choose to create about, we want to see multiple shades of one colour or your project.
Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above
for further clarification.
Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the GOODBYE and MONOCHROMATIC Main Challenge!
Dana: I missed saying GOODBYE to my Grandmother
before she passed away. I was not able to attend her memorial service as I was
very pregnant with my second daughter and could not travel. My Grandmother
graduated from Oakwood High School in 1947. She loved her time living in the
small city of Oakwood, Ohio. I made it my goal to move to the city so that I
would have the chance to live in Oakwood as well, and have my daughters
graduate from the same high school. When the high school redesigned their
entranceway I purchased an engraved brick in her memory. Now I can say hello and
goodbye to her when I walk by the school, a place that she loved. I designed my
MONOCHROMATIC layout in shades of green.
Sabrina: Hi to everyone! Today I show you my art
journal. I made my art journal with some pieces of canvas! I love art
journals ♥️ and I
love vintage style! I love MONOCHROMATIC vintage colors such as sepia, brown and much more! And
the word "GOODBYE" is perfect for the theme I choose!!!! We are waiting to see your interpretations!
ANASTASIA TVERITNEVA
ANASTASIA: "GOODBYE routine, hello art!". For my
MONOCHROMATIC project, I chose indigo blue. Initially, I wanted to make a layout
on the topic "GOODBYE to my familiar life, hello lockdown", but I
realized that my scrap is positive! I remembered that after a
hurricane I found a real hive that had fallen from a tree and decided to use
it. It is supplemented by paper cutting in the form of bee honeycombs and moulds.
Cecilia: It's not easy to say GOODBYE, but life moves
on... and creating helps a lot to fill the empty rooms at home or in the soul. Sharing my MONOCHROMATIC art journal page with you.
JOLANDE van OOSTERHOUT
JOLANDE: The word GOODBYE inspired
me for this layout. Saying goodbye to your youth, from work, and to what is now.
The saying I stamped says enough, today is what counts. So GOODBYE yesterday is written in stone. I created a MONOCHROMATIC layout in gray colors.
SARAH: I like to be pregnant, to carry life and it is difficult each time to say GOODBYE to this big belly! Even if baby is in our
arms, we lose this particular bond that is so special. I chose MONOCHROMATIC colours in purple and all of its nuances.
HEATHER McMAHON
Heather: We
have just said GOODBYE to autumn in southern Australia. We've had some very
cold days but the winter weather hasn't been too wild yet. I used browns for my MONOCHROMATIC colour scheme, in keeping with the
autumn/winter theme.
Heikes: The word GOODBYE inspired me to
create an art journal page with the thoughts of our children and grandchildren.
The time when the children/grandkids believe in story-books and magic-fairytales can be so short. Our eldest grandchild turns 8 years old this month, and the
first magic is over. She starts questioning all the stories. Her belief in
the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy is over. The photo-image on
my page is meant to symbolize that the road of beautiful stories and the belief
in magic never ends. I wrote the word GOODBYE with a pencil around my circle.
For the creative challenge: MONOCHROMATIC, I did a lot of stencil and stamp work
in blue-grey ink.
YULIA POPKOVA
Yulia: Our July Challenge inspired me to make canvas on
a wooden bar in a MONOCHROMATIC turquoise palette. Over the course of our lives, we have been
forced to say GOODBYE many times ... and often hope that there will be a new
meeting behind this word.
